Let These Men Be the Reminder to Always Prioritize Leg Days
When asked about their least favorite muscle group to train, most gym enthusiasts will likely point to their legs. Properly focusing on your leg workouts means they should be the most challenging and exhausting of all your exercise routines. Despite the difficulty, never neglect leg days.
Look around your gym, and you’ll probably spot many individuals with CLS (chicken legs syndrome). This occurs due to insufficient lower body training. If you’re serious about aesthetics, you definitely wouldn’t want to resemble a light bulb – broad at the top and narrow at the bottom. There’s nothing worse than a disproportionate physique!
Never Skip Leg Days
It’s true that ‘legendary’ can’t be spelled without ‘leg.’ If your legs are tiny, you probably won’t want to showcase them in public unless you’re ready for ridicule and mockery.
We get that not everyone has top-tier leg genetics. Not everyone can be Tom Platz. However, this doesn’t justify skipping leg workouts altogether! Always include leg training in your routine. There are numerous benefits beyond just appearance.
Let’s check out some people who serve as reminders to diligently train your legs.
Your Reminders to Work on Legs
First up, here’s this individual. We’re sure these kids will be impressed by his strength and muscle mass. We hope they don’t adopt his workout routine. It would be interesting to see him squat with these kids on his back.
The boy on the left seems to be taking cues from the man, displaying some upper body strength. It’s great to see him doing a pull-up on the man’s bicep. We wish someone would also teach him the importance of lower body training.
Calvin Klein Campaign
Another example is this Calvin Klein campaign. This campaign succeeded for all the wrong reasons, thanks to the model holding the banner. CK needs a more rigorous screening process for its models, and the male model in the picture needs a better training program.
Hugh Jackman’s Legs
Next on the list, some may be surprised to see Wolverine, but we aren’t. Hugh Jackman’s legs don’t match his well-defined upper body. Check out his Instagram, and you’ll find very few videos of him squatting.
Jackman’s Insta feed is full of videos of him deadlifting and performing other exercises. His legs don’t receive the same attention as his other muscles. Perhaps his legs are made of adamantium.
Did you think Hugh’s previous picture was taken from a bad angle? This photo confirms the size of Jackman’s legs. Let it serve as your motivation for your next leg workout.
The Typical “Gym Bros”
These pictures represent the stereotypical “gym bros” who only focus on their upper body. They follow the “everyday is arm day” mentality.
Here’s another example. This guy needs to swap the crate for dumbbells and walking for lunges. Alternatively, he could avoid the hard work by opting for baggy sweatpants. His New Year’s resolution should be to train legs twice a week.
We’re not finished yet. It’s amusing how some individuals neglect leg training entirely. We hope this guy doesn’t topple over because of his large upper body and tiny legs. Legs are the foundation of your body. A weak foundation can lead to future problems, which you definitely want to avoid.
Welcome to the gym where leg training is seemingly forbidden. This photo appears to have been intended to be taken from the waist up. Nonetheless, they are attempting to look like they have strong legs, flexing their calves.
Importance of Leg Training
Now that we’ve shown some reasons to avoid skipping leg days, let’s discuss the true importance of training legs.
First and foremost, legs are the foundation of the body. Think of your body as a structure – you wouldn’t want to build it on a weak base. Strong legs provide a stable foundation, essential for longevity.
Secondly, training legs promotes overall growth. It’s well established that leg workouts boost the release of human growth hormone and testosterone. Who wouldn’t want more of those muscle-building hormones?
Additionally, training legs can boost metabolism. Strenuous resistive exercise has been shown to elevate post-exercise metabolic rates and enhance lipid oxidation, meaning more fat loss over time.
Moreover, leg workouts increase GLUT4, improving our body’s insulin sensitivity and glucose absorption rate. Simply put, you can enjoy a cheat meal after an intense leg session.
Conclusion
In summary, neglecting leg training is unwise. There are numerous reasons to train your legs consistently.
For starters, it looks unbalanced. We showcased several examples of individuals with disproportionate legs, hoping they serve as reminders to prioritize leg training.
However, the benefits extend far beyond aesthetics. Training legs has profound impacts on overall fitness and health. Is that something you want to miss out on?
